April
2009
Sorted has
had a positive start to the year working with partners
old and new, and with support coming from The Henry
Smith Charity and The Gannochy Trust we are optimistic
about the coming months.
Sorted
has a long history or working in partnership
with Turning Point Scotland, and Maddie has been working
alongside the team running the CARS programme. Maddie
said “I’ve delivered a full 8 week series
of confidence building workshops and I’m delighted
to have received excellent feedback from service users
and staff.” This is what some of the men and
women had to say about their new learning:
''Something that the Sorted
confidence session did was help me to realise that
other people think like me. I am not alone.'
'One
thing that made me think is the way people see me.
I was very surprised to find that people like me!
I had a totally different view from what other people
think about me. It was a good surprise and I will
try to remember it!'
'Writing
my action plan really made me think about what I need
to do to move on, were I need to go and what I want
to do.'
'The
group today was about 'what we are good at'. I thought
I was good at nothing, but it turns out I'm good at
lots of things. I have lots of strengths. I'm going
to remember that.'
As a result
of the positive feedback Sorted will be fully integrated
in to the CARS rolling programme.
Another
long term partner is the Drug Referral
Team and Maddie started delivering life skills workshops
on the 2nd April.
A
new partner for The Sorted Project
is Work Directions. The Sorted Project will be delivering
a series of Motivational Employability Workshops for
Work Directions clients. The workshops will run over
a period of 4 weeks, and the fist workshop is planned
for 15th April.
So,
the clocks have changed, the evenings
are lighter and a sense of optimism is present in
the Sorted camp. More updates soon following our board
meeting in May.
